What to Expect From a Post-Construction Clean

Fine dust travels everywhere. A three-stage post-construction clean is the difference between a handover and a snag list.

What to Expect From a Post-Construction Clean

Construction dust is abrasive, it settles for days after the trades leave, and it will ruin a brand new floor if it is walked in.

Stage one: rough clean

Debris removal, sweeping, waste segregation and a first pass on windows so the site is safe to work in. This happens while second fix is still underway.

Stage two: main clean

This is the heavy lift — protective film removal, paint and adhesive spots, sealing dust in ceiling voids and vents, degreasing, full internal glass, and machine work on hard floors.

Stage three: sparkle clean

After the dust has had 24 to 48 hours to settle, we return for a detail pass: all horizontal surfaces, glass, ironmongery, sanitaryware and final floor buff immediately before handover photography.

Plan the access

Water, power, lift access and waste disposal need confirming before the crew arrives. We include all of this in the written method statement.

Protect the finish

New flooring should be protected until the final walk-through. We supply and remove floor protection as part of most commercial fit-out contracts across Virginia, DC and Maryland.
