Choosing Eco-Friendly Cleaning Products Without Losing Performance

Green cleaning has come a long way. Here is how we pick low-toxicity products that still pass a healthcare-grade hygiene audit.

Choosing Eco-Friendly Cleaning Products Without Losing Performance

"Eco-friendly" on a label means very little on its own. These are the checks we apply before a product goes onto a Belvedere trolley.

Look for real certification

Green Seal, EPA Safer Choice and EU Ecolabel all require independent testing. A green bottle and a leaf logo do not.

Match the product to the risk

General surfaces, glass and floors can almost always be handled with low-toxicity concentrates. Clinical rooms, food preparation areas and washrooms still need a certified disinfectant with a proven kill claim — that is a safety decision, not a marketing one.

Concentrates beat ready-to-use

Dosing concentrate on site cuts plastic by up to 90 percent and removes a lorry-load of water from the supply chain. It also stops over-application, which is the main cause of streaking and sticky floors.

Microfibre does half the work

A good laundered microfibre system lifts more soil with less chemical. We colour-code by zone so a washroom cloth never reaches a desk.

Ask your supplier for the data

Safety data sheets, dilution charts and certification numbers should arrive with your specification. Every Belvedere contract includes them as standard.
